Dairy Company Dairy Crest announced today (Thursday) that it is getting a bigger share of WM Morrison’s dairy business. It has also acquired dairy company Starcross Foods.

The company has been informed that its share of the supermarket group’s fresh milk supply will increase from approximately 30% to approximately 50%. The new business is expected to take effect from 3 October 2005.


Robert Wiseman Dairies has announced that its milk supply contract with Morrison is not to be renewed.


Dairy Crest also announced the acquisition of Starcross Foods Limited for £16.9m (US$32.2m) including debt on acquisition of £9.1m. Starcross is a modern dairy in Foston, Derbyshire opened in May 2002 with current processing capacity of up to 100 million litres of milk per annum.
