Kurt Christensen and his son Henrik have together produced a flat, triangular tea bag known as the Teangle, which could revolutionise the tea bag market as the inventor revealed he is in talks with UK supermarket group Sainsbury’s, which last week confirmed its is considering selling the Teangle.

The tea bag comes in a pouch. After it has been dangled in the cup, a tug on the attached string withdraws the bag into the pouch, which clicks shut. An advert for the product instructs sceptics to then carry out the non-drip test by shutting the pouch in a book and closing it – or even putting it in a trouser pocket.

The tea bag was the result of six years of experimentation. “Stopping that terrible drippy mess when you take the tea bag out of your cup has become our life’s crusade,” said Christensen.
