UK chicken processor Faccenda Group is to build a new facility at its Telford plant in the Midlands.

Building work will start later this month on the 100,000 sq ft food processing facility, which will be constructed alongside the existing 56,000sq ft plant.

Faccenda said the investment will support its growth strategy by delivering a “more streamlined, simple and efficient” supply chain and create the space for “rapid future growth, in both volume and product diversity”.

The announcement follows last year’s acquisition by Faccenda of the UK’s second-largest turkey producer, Cranberry Foods.

“This is another major step in delivering Faccenda’s growth strategy,” said MD Andy Dawkins. “It signals a step change in our capability to satisfy our customers requirements for innovative fresh and convenience food solutions.”

The site in Telford will remain open and functioning during the construction of the new site. Completion is expected by mid-2014 and will be fully operational by January 2015.
