The OFT told the Food and Drink Federation that there could be competition concerns if manufacturers get together to make agreements that may reduce consumer choice, reported The Financial Times.

The FDF apparently showed its proposals to regulators in July and were told in August of the potential breach of competition laws. The OFT said that the industry could avoid the problem by not coordinating efforts.
