Newcastle Productions has brought in the administrators after running into financial problems, it was revealed today (12 January).
Administrators Zolfo Cooper said the company had seen “a period of sustained trading losses”. The firm’s factory in Longbenton is closed due to a recent fire but a spokesman from Zolfo Cooper said the administrators were open to interest from potential buyers.
“We remain confident that there will be interest from potential buyers to secure the future of this business and will need the support of all parties to achieve this,” the spokesman said.
“Newcastle Productions is a well established local business and produces a range of high quality frozen food products in the UK, under the Findus brand – a popular and long-established food label.”

By GlobalDataNewcastle Productions employs 420 people and produces a range of crispy pancakes, ready meals and fish fingers under brands including Findus and GO3.
Private equity firm Lion Capital, which owns the rights to the Findus trademark, refused to comment on whether it could look to sell on the licence.
