Finsbury Food Group, the UK baker, is expanding capacity at its bread site in Salisbury.

The cake, bread and bakery foods producer said today (1 July) it has secured a 15-year lease on a 25,000 sq ft building that neighbours its existing Nicholas and Harris bakery. Over the next two years, Finsbury will expand the plant into the new building, “significantly” expanding capacity.

“We are very pleased to be investing in our speciality bread business following its consistent growth over the past few years,” said Finsbury CEO John Duffy. “We continue to benefit from growing demand for speciality bread and look forward to the benefits that this expansion will bring.”

The company has not revealed financial details of the investment.

The investment in Finsbury’s bread business follows the sale of its free-from business to Genius Foods for GBP21m (US$32m) in February.
