The UK’s Food Standards Agency, the government-funded food safety watchdog, will meet with organics advocacy and certification body the Soil Association later this year to discuss what research should be undertaken to compare organic food with food produced using conventional methods.
The news came the same day as the Soil Association published research it claimed indicated organic food was “safer and better for you” than non-organic food, thus directly contradicting the position of the Food Standards Agency, which is that organic food has no nutritional benefits over conventional food.
