The UK Food Standards Agency has warned four sweet manufacturers for having too high levels of e-number colour additives in their sugar confectionery products.

Two Campino boiled sweets had too much sunset yellow, as did cotton candy sold under the Charms label. Manufacturers of Ginni’s strawberry bricks and Som’s Saint Simons kola cubes were informed that excessive levels of carmoisine had been found in their sweets, reported the Guardian.

Fourteen sweet manufacturers were rebuked for failing to list all the colouring ingredients on packaging, even when they fell within permitted levels.
