Iceland has confirmed that a “foreign body” was discovered by a customer in a minced beef product sold by the frozen food retailer.
According to an ITV report, a customer found a clump of hair, suspected to be cow hide, in Iceland beef mince.

A spokesperson for the group told just-food that, upon finding the “foreign body”, the consumer returned the product to the store and received a full refund.
“The store manager apologised to the customer for the inconvenience and distress this had caused,” the spokesperson said. “Since the return of the product, Iceland Customer Care team have contacted the customer to again apologise and offer the customer a GBP30 gesture of good will. This has been accepted by the customer.”
The news comes as beef products on sale in the UK are under the microscope following the revelation that beef had been illegally substituted with horsemeat.
