UK confectionery maker Glisten has announced a rise in sales to £14.2m (US$27.18) in the six months to 31 December 2004, compared with £9.4m in the same period in 2003.

Profit on ordinary activities before taxation was £1.156m, compared with £950,000 in the year earlier period.

Chairman Jeremy Hamer said sales for the first two months of the second half were 146% ahead of last year, 11% on a like-for-like basis. “Following the decision to create a single confectionery division, the opportunities available to us both in terms of product range extension and wider distribution will be a strong catalyst for growth,” he said.
