UK confectioner Glisten has acquired the House of York toffee brand for £120,000 (US$221,000).

House of York brands include ‘swirl’ and ‘bonfire’ toffees.

Glisten makes SunMaid chocolate raisins, as well as peanuts, brazil nuts, popcorn, mini eggs, mint imperials and ingredients for food manufacturers. It has bought House of York from food ingredients maker Kiril Mischeff. The sale includes manufacturing equipment, recipes, the House of York order book and the confectionery brand.

This is the latest in a series of acquisitions; earlier this year Glisten bought family-run jelly bean and wine gum manufacturer Fravigar, also from Kiril Mischeff, for £6.5m, and last year it bought Sunya, a division of Leeds-based baking-to-spreads business Renshaw Scott, reported PA News.
