UK supermarket firm Safeway has asked retail entrepreneur Philip Green to clarify what his intentions are regarding a bid for the chain.

The request from Safeway follows a request by Green for more financial information, reported the Financial Times.

“Philip Green has received the same information that all others have received. Before we provide him with any further material, it would be helpful for him to provide clarity on what his actual intentions are,” an adviser to Safeway was quoted by the Financial Times as saying.

Green reportedly believes Safeway has not provided enough information to enable him to make a decision regarding a possible bid for the chain.
