The new products, to be launched on 18 March, are Fifi and the Flowertots, Pirates of the Caribbean and Shrek pasta shapes. All three varieties are available in 205g cans.

While bearing the names of popular characters, the new products also contain multigrain pasta and Omega-3, healthier innovations introduced across the Heinz pasta portfolio last year, to appeal to parents seeking healthier food choices for their children. These better-for-you elements are communicated via flashes on the front-of-pack labelling.

“We have linked up with some of the most recognisable kids’ characters around, marking the next stage in our five year plan to reinvigorate the canned pasta category,” said Nathan Ansell, senior brand manager, Heinz pasta meals. “After a hugely successful 2006 we are continuing to invest in our portfolio to bring mums back to the canned pasta category by introducing essential nutrients such as Omega-3 and giving kids great tasting, fun food they will love.”
