HJ Heinz has resumed production at the UK plant that produces its Aunt Bessie’s frozen potato products following a fire in earlier in the month.
The manufacturer said today (26 May) that the recovery plan has included extensive cleaning fo the factory and the return of all of the electrical, steam and environmental management services.
Production has commenced on one of the three production lines this week, and is expected to be followed by another next week. Meanwhile, work on the remaining production line continues.
“This has been a tremendous achievement by everyone at the site. Without the support and hard work of our employees this would not have been possible. We are also very grateful for the rapid response and dedicated support we received from the Norfolk County Council’s Fire & Rescue Service,” said factory site manager Mike Etherington.
The investigation into the cause of the fire, which took place on 6 May, remains under investigation.
