Agriculture Minister Joyce Quin has agreed that the maximum moisture content in wheat, barley and rye offered into intervention this year will be raised from 14.5% to 15%. This follows a decision of the Cereals Management Committee, meeting in Brussels, to allow Member States the option of raising the level following the exceptionally wet weather throughout much of Europe during this year's harvest. The increase will be subject to an intervention price penalty.
