Ulrick & Short, a UK developer, designer, manufacturer and supplier of “clean label” ingredients, has overhauled its West Yorkshire facility.

The company has invested a six-figure sum in new technical facilities at its Pontefract site as part of its plans to grow business and diversify into new market areas. Part of the work is an overhauled test kitchen designed to deliver a hands-on experience for customers, allowing Ulrick & Short to fast track projects and quickly solve any process problems, the company said.

Ulrick & Short director Adrian Short said: “Our development team works closely with customers to help them gain a true understanding of our ingredients, looking at how they will be affected in varying processing techniques.

“By doubling the size of our test kitchen we will be able to work more effectively with our customers as well as improving our own new product development capabilities to move into new market sectors more easily.”

The company, which produces ingredients with no chemicals or artificial components and are free from genetic modification, also announced it will introduce a new range of crops, which include rice and sweet potato.
