UK cake maker Inter Link Foods has said it is confident of a “very successful year” after sales rose 31% in the first four months of the financial year.

The company, which makes private label, branded and licensed cake products, said like-for-like sales for the four months to 31 August were 15% ahead of the same period of last year.
Chairman Jeremy Hamer said the company has recently completed the installation of “one of the largest and most efficient pie making plants in Europe” at its bakery at Shadsworth in Blackburn.
“Production started last week, in line with our plans, and we expect to produce over 65 million mince pies between now and Christmas,” Hamer said.
“New product launches and new listings continue at a high level and I am confident that we can look forward to another very successful year,” he added.
