Burton’s is set to launch Jammie Dodgers snack bar and Maryland Munch Bars in a bid to tap into growing demand for “on the go snacks”, the company said.

Jaspal Chada, marketing director at Burton’s, said: “This expansion of our footprint is part of our long-term strategy to innovate and develop great tasting snacks within the growing healthier sector.”

Burton’s owner, private equity firm Duke Street Capital, wants to move the business into the healthier parts of the UK snack market.

In January, Burton’s bought cereal bar manufacturer Northumbrian Fine Foods for an undisclosed sum.
