Soleco UK has recalled Florette lambs lettuce from sale over fears of possible salmonella contamination.

The company said lettuce on sale in the Channel Islands, Ireland and through smaller outlets in the UK has been recalled.

The affected batches are Florette 100% Lambs Lettuce with use by dates of 19/04, 20/04 and 21/04.

Florette MD Mark Newton told just-food: “Our continuous, rigorous quality testing programme identified a small chance of potential contamination in part of this batch. Although the risk was very low, we immediately triggered a withdrawal of the entire batch from retail outlets and the distribution chain.”

Newton added: “Ensuring the highest quality standards is our number one priority which is why we have taken this precautionary measure.”
