In a radical shake-up of its worldwide retail operations, Marks and Spencer has said it will close all its European stores and sell its US operations in order to concentrate on its UK business.

The overhaul is expected to affect 4390 jobs, mainly in Europe, but some job cuts are also expected in its UK operations.

The changes follow a review of the business by Marks & Spencer’s, initiated to reverse falling sales, profits and popularity. Marks & Spencer’s food operations are likely to be boosted as a result of the review with the company expanding its product line up.
