A planned three-day strike by milk delivery drivers in the UK has been cancelled.

Scheduled to take place on Wednesday (1 April), the scheduled industrial action stemmed from Arla Foods' decision to transfer the drivers' employment contracts to Leeds-based Moran Logistics.

Union officials had feared the drivers' pay and conditions would not be honoured by the new employer. For its part, Arla, which was transferring the jobs to improve efficiency, said the terms of the contracts would move across to Moran.

The drivers deliver milk to Tesco, Asda, Morrisons and Aldi stores in northern England.

Rachel Dix, regional officer for the GMB union, said: "Both parties can confirm that an amicable conclusion has been reached so that no strike action will take place."
