Mondelez International has given its UK savoury biscuit brand, Ritz, a makeover with new packaging and recipe.

The global snacks giant has reduced the amount of salt in Ritz Original from 3.28g per 100g to 1.38g per 100g. The brand’s Cheese and Mini Ritz variants will also benefit from salt reductions over the next few months.

Packaging for the range has also been given a new look for better stand out on shelf, the company said.

“We’ve managed to significantly reduce the salt content of Ritz Original and the rest of the range without losing the great taste, and the new packs have great shelf appeal,” said Ritz brand manager Alastair Pilgrim.

“We’ve got exciting plans for Ritz next year and together with the reduction in salt and new packaging – we think this is a winning combination that consumers will love, and we hope it will attract even more people to the UK’s number one savoury biscuit.”
