As Monkhill produces Butterkist, a pre-packed popcorn, as well as a wide range of confectionery, the proposed acquisition will bring together two complementary operations and a specialist cinema distribution service.
The deal, which is subject to approval from the Office of Fair Trading, will also enable Monkhill to maximise business and technological efficiencies.
Monkhill Confectionery is a division of Trebor Bassett Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Cadbury Schweppes. Harrington Consumer Products Ltd is a wholly owned subsidiary of Harrington Food Group Ltd.
