UK food and clothing retailer Marks and Spencer has reported strong sales over the lucrative Christmas period.

The company said that like-for-like sales rose 7% in the 15 weeks to 11 January compared to the same period a year ago, but admitted that clothing sales were below expectations.
M&S said its food sales were up 4% over the period, while non-food sales were up 8.8%, reported BBC Online.
