In a bid to capture a greater share of the £605m organics market, UK high street retailer Marks and Spencer is said to be embarking on a major push for its organic food range.

A spokeswoman from the firm revealed: “We continue to look at opportunities in produce and dairy,” but M&S declined to comment on their business strategy in more detail.

As far as the market spectators are concerned however, boosting the organic food on offer is a sound plan. “The M&S customer is more likely to buy organic food. It is unlikely to fall down like Iceland,” remarked one analyst. There are 103 different lines in the organics range currently stocked by M&S.
