Beleaguered high street retailer Marks & Spencer will open its first food-focused convenience store in Surrey next Tuesday.

The store will be branded with M&S traditional colours but carry the Marks & Spencer Simply Food fascia, a move to ensure that consumers realise that the outlet only carries a limited product range. This means that they will focus on carrying core stocks of food items such as sandwiches and coffee, together with small added extras such as newspapers and wrapping paper.

An M&S spokeswoman revealed that the company has looked at sites all over the country to expand the chain, and fifty locations have been pinpointed as ideal. A second store will open in Twickenham towards the end of the week.
