Biscuit maker Nairn’s Oatcakes has launched what it claims is the first gluten-free instant porridge on the UK market.

Gluten Free Easy Porridge is designed to be eaten at home or “on the go”, Nairn’s said today (13 March). Each pot requires hot water and is ready to eat in five minutes.

The pots are made using pure, wholegrain gluten free oats, sourced and farmed by a family of coeliacs.

Nairn’s said the move into the instant breakfast market has been “a natural progression” for the Edinburgh-based brand, which already has Gluten Free Real Porridge Oats and Gluten Free Instant Porridge Oats in its free from offering.

The company opened a dedicated gluten free bakery in 2009. The new range is available in Tesco and Waitrose stores with an RRP of GBP1.50 (US$2.24) per pot.
