Nestlé has said that it is considering moving out of its UK headquarters in Croydon.
The Swiss food giant’s UK arm has been based in Croydon, south London, since 1965 but the company has admitted it is beginning to question whether it should remain at its current base.
“Over recent years it has become increasingly clear that our current offices and the deteriorating environment around them do not provide a suitable base for our business or our employees in the medium term,” Nestle said.
The Kit Kat maker said it is reviewing its options to build a new head office in the area but “unfortunately the council to date has not been able to identify potential alternative locations in the area”.
“Whilst we continue to work with the council on the redevelopment of the mid-town area, we have now after many years been forced into also reviewing other options outside Croydon,” the company said in a statement.
Nestle confirmed that it has no concrete plans to relocate from Croydon in the short term.
