The company said the new drink is “set to change the way consumers and end users perceive hot chocolate in the out of home market”.

Katy Hilditch, beverages category lead at Nestlé FoodService, said the drink has a strong profit potential. Currently the catering hot chocolate market is worth £11.5m (US$21.0m), but is growing at a rate of around 3%.

“This is a product category that has not been driven forwards in the last few years. Yet despite a lack of investment, it has still enjoyed significant growth. Our research shows that the potential of the new Aero Instant Hot Chocolate drink is unprecedented – and is far greater than is currently being exploited by the market,” Hilditch said.
