A consignment of 107 Dutch beef quarters, including 12 that were over thirty months at the time of slaughter, has been detained after it entered the UK.

The discovery was made on Friday (11th January) as the consignment was being unloaded  at  Anglo Dutch Meats (ADM) Ltd, Eastbourne. The beef came from Brada’s Vleeschbedrijf BV, Leevwarden.

It is illegal under UK law to sell meat from animals over thirty months of age for human consumption, with very limited exceptions. This OTM beef has been intercepted and will be disposed of. None of the meat will now enter the human food chain.
