Anglo-Dutch consumer goods giant Unilever has ruled out the possibility of dividing its businesses into food and personal care units.

Responding to investor criticism that the group is trailing rivals Nestlé and Proctor and Gamble due to the diverse nature of its businesses and brands, Unilever has categorically stated that it is not considering dividing the company.


“This is absolutely not on the cards,” a spokesperson for the group told just-food today (15 May).


Earlier this month, Unilever posted an expectation beating 5.7% increase in sales for the first quarter, putting it on track to meet its 2007 targets.
