UK baker Perfection Foods plans to open a manufacturing site dedicated to export markets early next year.

A spokesperson for Perfection Foods said today (13 December) the 16,000 sq ft factory in Walsall will help the company “keep up with the increase in demand that we have from new markets in Europe”.

The new site will be the company’s new headquarters instead of its site in Wednesbury, which employs 40 people and will become the company’s international distribution centre.

The factory is expected to be fully operational early next year. The spokesperson could not reveal what production capacity it will have but said it would have “24-hour production capabilities”.

At least 70 jobs will be created, although the spokesperson could not disclose how much Perfection was spending on the project.

Perfection Foods manufactures cakes including muffins, cupcakes and cookies for retailers in the UK, including Asda, and across Europe. It started its export business in 2009 and supplies own-label brands to overseas retailers Carrefour and Rema 1000.
