Kallo Foods, the UK organic and wholefoods arm of Dutch food group Wessanen, has appointed former Plum Baby boss Patrick Cairns as CEO.
Cairns, who left Plum Baby after it was sold to private-equity firm Darwin in May, will also head Wessanen’s UK wholesaler Tree of Life and join its European management board.

Despite the downturn hitting organic sales in the UK, Cairns insisted it was an “exciting time” to join Kallo. “The potential to build organic and wholefood brands with the right innovation and support is evident,” Cairns said.
