UK savoury foods manufacturer Pork Farms has announced it is seeking redundancies for up to 90 of its 300 staff as a result of the “ongoing economic situation”.

The firm said today (11 May) that the cuts will be from its Queens Drive facility and that the completion of its GBP11m (US$16.7m) investment into the infrastructure and equipment, together with improved working processes, has released “significant capacity into the factory”.

“For some time we have been discussing, with our representatives from Unite T&G, the required staffing levels to run the business in the short, medium and long term that will help us to optimise the capacity at the factory and put Queens Drive in a strong position for the future”, a spokesperson said.
