UK food manufacturers Premier Foods has confirmed that the fire that hit its Branston Pickle factory has hit turnover.

Premier said that the impact of the blaze at the Bury St. Edmunds facility would leave like-for-like turnover flat. Had the fire not happened, like-for-like sales would have been up by 1%, the company said.
Nevertheless, Premier said it was on track to meet annual profit forecasts.
The fire hit the production of Loyd Grossman sauces as well as Branston Pickle, effectively wiping out two of the company’s key brands for ten weeks. Premier also makes Typhoo Tea, Ambrosia custard and Hartley’s jam, and last month announced it would buy Bird’s Custard and Angel Delight from Kraft.
