Premier Foods plc chief executive Michael Clarke has revamped the UK manufacturer’s management structure as he presses on with plans to revitalise the company.

Clarke has appointed two new group MDs, who will run Premier’s grocery and bakery businesses.

The new structure, however, will see the role of COO will disappear, which means Tim Kelly will leave Premier, the company said today (31 October).

Iwan Williams, a partner at financial consultants Ambre Partners, will join Premier next month as MD of the company’s bakery operations, which includes the Hovis and Mr Kipling brands, as well as own-label unit Brookes Avana.

Williams, 53, has had stints at McCormick & Co., where he was president for the US spice maker’s operations in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, and at Coca-Cola, where he was marketing director for its business in Asia-Pacific.

Graham Hunter will join Premier early next year as MD of its grocery operations. Hunter works for 2 Sisters Food Group. He became a director of the poultry supplier after its owner Ranjit Boparan acquired Northern Foods earlier this year. At Northern, Hunter was MD for a number of Northern’s branded businesses, including Fox’s biscuits and Goodfella’s pizza.
