UK snacks and confectionery firm Glisten, owned by Finnish food group Raisio, has entered into consultation over plans to close its Skegness plant, putting around 92 jobs on the line.
Glisten said today (30 August) it has begun a consultation with staff at the Lincolnshire plant with a proposal to transfer manufacturing to other sites as it “plans for future growth”. If the proposal is adopted, the majority of production will move to the firm’s facility in Leicester, with the remainder to its plant in the Czech Republic.

“We are currently working at very close to capacity at our Skegness site and we need to invest further to meet the demands of the major retail customers who are fundamental to our business and continued growth,” said managing director Mark Adcock.
“We have looked carefully at all the options, taking into account the cost and feasibility of developing the Skegness site and the fact that there is spare capacity and a strong talent pool of skilled workers at our other production facilities.”
