The McIntosh brand, which ranks as Scotland’s largest ready-meals business, is to be retained by Smmart following a deal made last Friday with the company’s receiver KPMG.
Having taken over McIntosh’s ready-meals and sausage divisions, Maureen Hepburn, MD of SMmart, a MBO company, explained to Business am that “We are not adopting a high-growth strategy. Instead, we are going for slow growth from a profitable base.”
She added that the company would focus on developing products in a bid to break into the English market.
