“We are pleased to report that sales volumes in the first three months of the new financial year are satisfactory and are 7.7% ahead of last year’s first quarter,” chairman Alan Wiseman said.

Wiseman said that in addition to the new business started in April with Tesco, the company also recently commenced deliveries to an additional 111 Iceland/Booker stores in England and Wales, which will help build volume for Robert Wiseman’s planned depot to service the south east of England.

“We remain in negotiations with Asda regarding the appropriate notice period we require for the stores we currently service on their behalf. Discussions with other customers are ongoing and we are confident that over time we will make up this loss in volume, and in so doing, build on the progress we have made since our flotation ten years ago,” Wiseman added.

Back in May, Robert Wiseman announced that supermarket chain Asda had decided to end the milk supply contract between the two companies. At the time Wiseman said the decision was a “major disappointment”. The contract was worth approximately £70m (US$129.5m) in turnover for the 53-week period to 3 April 2004.
