Renovation costs following a fire at Rowe’s Cornish Bakers factory in Falmouth “could cost” in the region of GBP2m (US$3.3m).
The pastry manufacturer, which supplies Tesco and Asda in the UK, has appointed Taylor Rose to restore the factory after a fire broke out on 18 July following an electrical fault in the switch room.

“Fire investigations were satisfied the start of the fire was no fault of ours,” a spokesperson for Rowe’s told just-food today (15 August).
At present only parts of the factory are operational.
“Production has been affected and there are a number of lines which we are currently unable to produce, but we are able to produce our Cornish Pasties & selected other flavours from our bakery in Penryn,” the spokesperson for Rowe’s said.
The site is expected to be be back into full operation by the end of September.
