“We’re still trying to get to the bottom of what has gone wrong,” a spokesperson for the retailer told just-food. “It is a technical glitch that has affected our ability to process orders.”

The company said that all orders placed yesterday (18 June) and today will not be delivered. “That’s between 8,000 and 10,000 people per day,” Sainsbury’s revealed.

The company has apologised to customers and has contacted the majority of customers who were expecting a delivery.

Sainsbury’s told just-food that it was unable to put a figure on the financial loss this will cause, stating: “It’s impossible to quantify.”
