UK supermarket chain Sainsbury’s is to sell larger-than-normal blueberries in selected stores from next week.

The company claims the blueberries, which are almost three times bigger than usual, will make it easier for consumers to get the required nutrients.

“Blueberries have long been known as power packs of nutritional goodness, and this bigger variety makes it even easier for customers to get their daily dose,” Craig Sibbitt, fruit buyer for Sainsbury’s, was quoted by The Scotsman as saying.

“Their giant size makes them convenient to grab on the run or munch on as a healthy snack,” Sibbitt added.

The giant blueberry, called Nui, is grown in New Zealand in similar conditions to normal-sized blueberries, reported The Scotsman.
