Sainsbury’s has indicated that it will source meat produced in the UK to manufacture the majority of its ready meals.

Apart from some obvious exceptions, such as Parma ham or lamb out of season, the UK supermarket group said that around 120m prepared meals each year will switch to the use of British reared meat in the next 16 months.
A spokesperson for the company told just-food that the move came in response to consumer sentiment.
“It is down to our customers: we know they prefer to buy British meat and we are reacting to this,” the spokesperson said.
