The campaign, which encourages people to reuse durable bags for their shopping trips, will see two pilot schemes run in Bristol and Edinburgh. It will run for six weeks and is supported by a number of high street retailers including ASDA, Boots, Co-Op/Scotmid, Somerfield, Tesco and Waitrose.
“We welcome the pilot scheme organised by WRAP as an innovative way of encouraging consumers to make a conscious effort to reduce the number of plastic bags currently in circulation,” said SRC director Fiona Moriarty. “”This is an opportunity for consumers to make a positive impact on the environment by thinking globally, but acting locally.”
