Somerfield plc announces the appointment of Mr Bill Williams as Operations Director – Somerfield and as a Director of the Company. Mr Williams, 52, has been performing the role on an interim basis since August. Before that he was the Executive Board Retail Director of Sainsbury’s and Homebase and non-executive Director of Sainsbury’s Bank.
Keith Jackson is also confirmed in his role as Buying Director and a member of the Somerfield Executive Committee.
Commenting on the appointments John von Spreckelsen, Executive Chairman, said “I am delighted to announce Bill’s appointment as a Director of the Company. He has already made a significant contribution to the business since joining us on an interim basis in August and has an enormously important role to play in continuing the turn around already begun. Keith Jackson’s confirmation in the role of Buying Director is equally well merited and completes the senior management team”.
Mr Williams has not been a director of any listed company in the past five years. There are no details to disclose for the purposes of Rule 16.4(b).
