UK food group Symington’s is to manufacture noodles in the UK, rather than source from China, to better meet customer demand.

The Golden Wonder owner said it was setting up noodle production at its new facility in Leeds. Symington’s hopes to be producing noodles at the site by August. The move is expected to generate 50 jobs, the company added.

“By producing its noodles in-house, Symington’s will shorten its supply chain. It currently takes eight to ten weeks to source noodles from China,” Symington’s business development director Henrik Pade said.

Pade explained the move would “enable the company to be more responsive to customer orders and deliver exciting new promotions at short notice”.
