UK supermarket groups Tesco and Asda have withdrawn all batches of their own-brand jaffa cakes from stores because the products have been found to contain milk that was not shown on the labels.
The Food Standards Agency has issued an allergy alert because this makes it unsafe for consumers allergic or intolerant of milk or milk constituents.
Both Asda and Tesco have withdrawn all the affected stock from sale. Point-of-sale notices will be displayed in their stores telling customers of the reason for the withdrawal, and explaining how they can get a refund if they have purchased the product.
