Tesco delivery drivers at the retailer’s Scottish distribution centre in Livingstone are no longer threatening strike action, having backed down in a dispute over terms and conditions.

The workers, who were involved in a three-day strike earlier this month, have all accepted new contracts.
The Transport and General Workers’ Union accused Tesco of trying to force through cuts in overtime and other payments.
“No changes have been made to the contracts we originally proposed,” a Tesco spokesperson told just-food today (13 June). “We have said all along that under the new contracts the drivers wouldn’t lose any money. Now they have decided to listen to us rather than the union.”
The move looks likely to end a dispute that has lasted three months. However, the T&G is reportedly oposing the deal despite the fact that it has been accepted by all its members.
