Workers at the group’s Livingstone distribution centre, which serves all Tesco’s Scottish stores, are planning to stage a three-day walk out from 24-26 May.

According to the Transport and General Workers union, the group representing the distribution workers, the dispute is over terms and conditions.

“Tesco is trying to muscle through changes to terms and conditions,” a spokesperson for the union told just-food. “They are also trying to reduce the union’s recognition when the site is moved a short distance down the road.”

Tesco has played down these allegations. “All we are doing is changing the way we pay our existing staff – not what we pay them,” a spokesperson for the company told just-food today (15 May).
