UK supermarket chain Tesco is to create more shop-in-shop Nutri Centres and double the number of stores that stock the Nutri Centre range to 400 next year.
Tesco acquired a 51% stake in London-based Nutri Centre last year, in an aim to capitalise on the increasing popularity of natural remedy and healthy-living products, reported Retail Week.
The supermarket chain recently opened its first shop-in-shop Nutri Centre in its Kensington store. The Nutri Centre shop offers a range of 3000 products, a great deal more than the 200 currently offered in those Tesco stores that stock the range. The shop also has specialised staff, including two nutritionists, and a learning zone that provides information about health issues.
Sales of Nutri Centre products have reportedly risen by 134% year-on-year to £2m (US$3.2m).
